The EDGE brings an all-in-one attitude to todays gaming Industry.

Here with us today we have on of TetraPad's flagship products... The EDGE Mousemat.  Tetrapad are a gaming peripheral company striving to improve today’s level of quality within the gaming industry.  Now you might say that’s a bold move especially with the industry giants out there but Tetrapad are here to surprise.  What instantly got me about this pad was the sheer weight of it.  It’s not far from a 2L bottle of coke, its aluminium made which makes it very durable and very clean in design.  But does it really deliver the kind of quality that we want?

In answer to that question, it most certainly does.  The Edge mouse mat has a very clean and professional style to it, no fancy graphics or borders not even a logo.  It’s all about the mat.  On the underneath of the mat you have four rubber feet which improves grip, theirs also another little feature that I would like to talk about a little later.  Now even though this is a gaming website, were not just about the games we need mat's that we can use for gaming and professional use while using our day to day programmes.  On that basis the Edge excels.  It has a very low friction top which provides easy use but it also manages to stay away from being too "swishy and slidey"

Technical Specifications

• Size: 250mm x 210mm (25cm x 21cm)
• Thickness: 4mm (0.4cm) - Excluding pad feet
• Base: Anodized Aluminium
• Surface: Ultra-Low Friction
• Colour: Black

To test the mouse were using a Razer Copperhead gaming mouse, I gave it a quick blast on both C&C Kanes Wrath and Call of Duty 4.  For playing the strategy games it’s a breeze due to the fact its very light on the hands while using your mouse and combined with using a high DPI mouse you're going to receive fantastic results.  Call of Duty 4 was a bit more hectic, which isn’t a surprise.  The Edge mat did well but I did find my mouse to slip off.  But I think that was mainly due to the small scale of the pad.  The size is 250mm x 210mm (25cm x 21cm),  which is a big downside to it.
But on the other hand I found it very comfortable to use with the likes of Photoshop or premiere pro.  All of that slow scrolling and repetitive mouse work which you have to do was made so much easierwith this pad because of the natural glide to it.

Tetrapad also sent us some of their new "TetraSkates".  Now no one likes ware and tear on our gadgets and I think the mice are one of the worst for general overuse.  Now these skates are designed to improve and give new life to the grip of your old mice.  It’s a very fine and slim surface which is attached to the bottom of your mouse.  It’s a cool idea and it works when applied they don’t stick out and it all feels natural to use.  It’s a bonus especially when using the Edge in conjunction.

The Edge is a cool product from Tetrapad, and like I said before I found it both useful in terms of strategy gaming and web work.  The only real thing that let it down was its sheer size but maybe in the future we will see a bigger version who knows.  If you want a durable and professional looking mat at an affordable price I highly recommended the Tetrapad "EDGE".  But for those of you who need more room for your arm, or your naturally quite jumpy when playing games.  Then you may find your mouse flying off the mat as you jump in freight.
